WHO AM I

I am a qualified, registered social worker in private practice, registered with The Health Professions Council of SA. You can thus claim your expenses back from your medical fund. I am working from a Christian perspective that will give my therapy more depth and insight.

After 20 years in the field, I am using art therapy as the sole therapeutic medium in my individual, family and group sessions.

Please do not think that you need to be a Picasso or Rembrandt to participate in my sessions. Therefore my slogan is:

NO SKILLS, NO AGE REQUIRED - ONLY PARTICIPATION.

I specialise in the following areas:

Puppets@Play

This is my child therapy. The focus here is on children between the ages of 7 to 13 years. Individual therapeutic inputs through familiar media (crayons, colouring-pencils, water paints, clay, glue and paper) especially in traumatised situations are used. I do therapy with children who experienced any type of trauma.

My belief is to involve the family in therapy, so family therapy evolves from the individual sessions with the child.

Me, Myself and I @ Art

This is my therapy with adolescents from age 13 to 18 years. The focus here is on the individual, family and group therapy. I make use of any art medium as well as other types of media such as music, drama, mosaic, scrap booking, pewter, decoupage, cement craft, beading and woodcraft. I encourage mixed media sessions where we use the different media simultaneously on one art project.

Divas @Art

These are creative practical group sessions where the focus is on women that are at crossroads in their lives and in search of new inspiration.

We remove layers of paint, not with a quick fix such as a paint stripper. No, we start at the top and remove the layers of paint that we have added over years without damaging the wood (our souls). Group sessions consist of eight 4 hour sessions (1 session per week).

HIV/AIDS Educational and Therapy Workshops:

Training and therapy workshops for personnel working with HIV/AIDS patients and the related emotional stress involved. It also includes HIV/AIDS dependants and their families who share the pain and suffering. Art is again used as medium. Individual and group therapy, family counselling as well as corporate packages are available.
